Pretérito Imperfecto - Spanish Verbs
There are two possible forms for each person for the Pretérito Imperfecto of the
Subjunctive Mood once conjugated. When using this tense you will only use one or
the other form not both. From the academic point of view, your teacher might expect
both forms conjugated. Ask your teacher.
Regular Spanish Verbs
To conjugate the regular verbs in the pretérito imperfecto of the subjunctive mood,
you take the infinitive form of the verb as it is found in the dictionary, you remove
the group endings (-ar, -er, -ir) and replace them with the personal endings. The
stem of the verb remains the same.
TIP: Most Spanish verbs fall under the -ar group.
Irregular Spanish Verbs
The irregular verbs are conjugated in the same form. Remember the vowel changes
(The vowels that change are e-ie, o-ue, e-i
and u-ue.).
Some irregular verbs are highly irregular like the verb "ir".
